Privacy policy
This policy explains what information AIP uses, why, where it is kept and the choices you have. It covers the business owners and staff who use AIP, and the people who write to those businesses.
1. Who we are
AIP is built and supported by MakeleleTech, Tanzania (support@makeleletech.com).
Each business that uses AIP has its own AIP: its own application and database, separate from every other business. The business decides how AIP is used for its customers and is responsible for that information. MakeleleTech builds, runs and supports AIP on the business's behalf and follows its instructions.
2. Information AIP uses
Owners and staff
Name, email address, role, sign-in and security records, and the actions taken in AIP.
People who write to a business
Name and number or account as the platform provides them, the messages and comments they send and receive, appointments, payments the business records, and the preferences they express (for example, not to receive offers).
Accounts the business connects
A business connects its own accounts in Settings → Connections. AIP asks only for the permissions each feature needs:

3. Why AIP uses it
- To answer customers and keep conversations going on the business's behalf, within the limits the owner sets.
- To book, move, cancel and remind appointments.
- To report to the owner: activity, bookings, results of ads, money recorded.
- To keep AIP secure, find problems and fix them.
AIP does not sell information, use it for advertising, or share it between businesses.
4. Google user data
AIP's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular, information from Google is used only to provide the calendar, meeting and report features the business turned on; it is not sold, not used for advertising, not read by people except with the business's permission, for security or where the law requires, and not used to train AI models. AIP does not send information it receives from Google to AI services.
5. AI services
To understand customers' messages and draft replies, AIP sends the text needed for that one task to AI services (OpenAI and Anthropic). Phone numbers and email addresses in the text are removed first where possible. These services are used through their business APIs, under terms in which they do not use this data to train their models.
6. Where information is kept
In the business's own AIP database and storage, in the region chosen for that business. Access keys for
connected accounts are stored encrypted and are used only by the business's own AIP. When you press Connect, the
sign-in passes through MakeleleTech's connect service at aip.makeleletech.com, which forwards it to
your AIP without storing it.

Some of these providers keep data outside Tanzania. We use them under their business terms and the safeguards the law requires. Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it.
8. How long it is kept
As long as the business uses AIP and within the retention periods the business sets; after that it is deleted or anonymised. When a business disconnects an account, AIP deletes that account's access keys at once. When a business stops using AIP, its data is returned to it or deleted as agreed.
9. Your choices and rights
- Customers: ask the business you wrote to for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it or to stop receiving offers. You can also write to us and we will pass your request to the business.
- Owners: disconnect any account at any time (see Data deletion), export your data, or ask us to delete it.
- Under Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 you may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission.
10. Security
Encryption in transit and at rest, a separate AIP for each business, roles and two-step sign-in for staff, and a record of every important action.
11. Children
AIP is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children.
12. Changes
We will post any change on this page with a new effective date, and tell businesses using AIP about important changes before they apply.
